This policy is written for Washington's My Health My Data Act (RCW 19.373), and it applies to everyone who uses Loop. Loop is made and run by RAFTZUM LLC ("we", "us"). Our privacy policy covers everything else Loop stores.
The health data Loop collects
- Health totals, only if you turn on Health data in Settings: the day's total (the week's, on a weekly streak) of steps, active minutes, workouts, sleep and distance (walking, running, cycling and swimming), read from Apple Health or Health Connect for the streaks and challenges that count them. Only these totals leave your phone, not the readings behind them.
- Numbers you type in on a streak or challenge about your health or activity, such as steps, distance, workouts, active or mindful minutes, hours of sleep or glasses of water, and any note you add to such a check-in.
- Your moods: the mood you pick for the day, from Rough to Great, and the note you add to it.
- Your requests for support: when you tap "I'm having a rough day" in a circle, that you asked and the note you add. Like your moods, they say how you feel, so this policy treats both as health data.
- What Loop works out from these: whether you reached a streak's goal, how long your streak is, the milestones you reach, and how many days you reached a goal in a circle.
- Anything else about your health that you share, such as a streak named after a medicine or a message about how you feel. Loop stores it as it stores everything else you share, and the rights below cover it too.
Loop reads nothing else from Apple Health or Health Connect. Mindful minutes are not read on any phone: you type them in. Loop does not use your location.
Why Loop collects it, and how it is used
- To record your check-ins, so your streaks and challenges fill in and keep count.
- To show you, and the people you share a streak, challenge or circle with, how you are doing: whether you reached the goal, your streak, your milestones and, where a streak shows them, your numbers.
- To send notifications about a streak, such as telling the last person on it that the others have done it.
- To show your mood to the people who can see it (below), and to let your circle know when you ask it for support.
- To review something that was reported to us, or to fix a problem you reported.
- To keep Loop secure, including in our encrypted database backups, which we keep for 30 days.
- To meet our legal duties, such as answering a valid legal request.
It is not used for advertising and not used to train AI models.
Where it comes from
- From you, when you type a number, write a note, pick a mood or ask your circle for support.
- From Apple Health on an iPhone or Health Connect on Android, with your permission, while Health data is on. They hold what your phone, your watch and the apps you connect to them record.
Who receives it
- The people on that streak or challenge. They can see your check-ins on it, including the number. When the streak belongs to a circle, the circle's members also see your milestones on it and, on the circle's leaderboard, how many days you reached a goal.
- Your moods: your friends, the people you share a circle with and the people on your streaks, unless you mark a mood private. A friend request that has not been accepted does not let anyone see them.
- Your requests for support: the members of the circle you asked.
- The companies that run parts of Loop for us, which may use it only to provide their service to us:
- Supabase: the database where Loop keeps it. Servers in Canada.
- GitHub: our encrypted nightly backups.
- Apple and Google: delivering notifications, such as one about a streak.
- Authorities, only when a valid legal request requires it.
Loop does not sell consumer health data, and does not share it with any other company or affiliate.
Your rights, and how to use them
- See it. In Loop: Settings, Privacy and safety, Download my data. It gives you a copy of your data in Loop, your check-ins and moods included; for your requests for support, ask us. You can also ask us whether we collect, share or sell your health data and with whom. This page lists everyone who receives it, and on request we give you the names and contact details of the companies that hold it for us.
- Stop it. To withdraw your consent, turn off Health data in Settings on each phone you use Loop on: Loop stops reading from Apple Health or Health Connect on that phone at once. You can also remove Loop's access in the Health app or in Health Connect. Numbers already synced stay on your streaks as your check-ins until you delete them as described next.
- Delete your health data and keep your account. Ask us through the form on the help page (below). Loop then deletes your moods and your requests for support, and removes your real numbers and notes from every check-in of a streak or challenge that measures your health or activity (steps, active minutes, workouts, sleep, distance, mindful minutes or water), whether they were synced or typed. On a day you met the goal, the goal itself stays as the number, so the day still counts as done; on other days no number stays. Your friends' streaks do not change.
- Delete your account. In Loop: Settings, Privacy and safety, Delete my account. If you no longer have the app, ask us. Your health data is deleted from the live database straight away: your check-ins with their numbers and notes, your moods and your requests for support. Our encrypted backups are deleted after 30 days. Photos and other files, such as album photos and receipts, follow their own rules, set out in our privacy policy. Anything removed after a report is kept out of sight for up to a year, then deleted.
